Elbow supports for padel and tennis: strap or sleeve?
A narrow forearm strap and a sleeve over the elbow are different products. Start with the type you have been advised to use, then compare fit, sizing and shops that serve your delivery country.

AI-generated illustration of a generic support, not the listed product.
Strap and sleeves to compare
Compare a forearm strap with two sleeves. These are exact models in our partner shops and Amazon stores, not a ranking by medical benefit or commission.

Counterforce strap
McDavid 489
A narrow forearm strap with pads and an adjustable closure. The linked Amazon listing opens on a specific size; select your size using the model’s own chart.
Before choosing: Less coverage than a sleeve. Follow the manufacturer’s placement and tension instructions; do not assume tighter is better.
Listed sizes: S, M, L. Availability depends on size.

Elastic sleeve with gel pads
McDavid 5130
A sleeve with gel inserts around the elbow. McDavid describes four-way elastic construction. Measure against the maker’s chart; a letter size from another brand is not a substitute.
Before choosing: More coverage than a narrow strap. Check how the pads sit when you bend your elbow and hold your racket.
Listed sizes: S, M, L, XL. Availability depends on size.

Compression sleeve
Floky ELBOW Support
A compression elbow sleeve. The shop currently lists XS-S and M-L. This is ELBOW Support, not the longer NO STRAIN arm sleeve or the Premier Padel edition.
Before choosing: Check the exact edition and the manufacturer’s intended use before choosing. We have not independently tested its performance or medical claims.
Listed sizes: XS-S, M-L. Availability depends on size.

Choose the product type before the brand
| Type | What you are comparing | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Counterforce strap | A narrow band around the forearm, below the elbow. | Exact placement, tension and size in the maker’s instructions. It is not the same as a full sleeve. |
| Elbow sleeve | A larger area of fabric over the elbow. Some models include gel pads. | Circumference, material, seam placement and how it feels when bending the arm. |
| Protective elbow pad | Padding intended for impacts or falls. | Do not confuse a volleyball or skating pad with a support intended for tennis elbow. |
What the evidence does, and does not, say
The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons says a forearm brace may help relieve tennis-elbow symptoms as part of nonsurgical care. That does not establish that any listed brand is better, that every elbow pain is tennis elbow, or that you can continue playing through pain. Read the AAOS explanation.
If pain persists or you are unsure which support is appropriate, ask a qualified clinician or physiotherapist before buying. None of the listed products has been clinically evaluated by PadelTrue. Manufacturer claims about recovery or injury prevention are not our verdict.
Four checks before ordering
- Match the exact model. McDavid 5130 is the elbow sleeve, not the 5125 knee product. Floky ELBOW Support is a different item from NO STRAIN.
- Measure, do not guess. Use the size chart for that exact model and measure at the location the manufacturer specifies. The same letter size can mean different measurements across brands.
- Read the fitting and care instructions. Confirm left or right arm suitability, material and washing instructions. Do not assume a tighter fit is better.
- Check your selected size and return terms. An available small size does not prove a large size is in stock. Membership prices, shipping and returns can change the value of a low headline price.
A support and a racket answer different questions
A sleeve does not tell you whether your racket’s weight or balance suits you. Our elbow player stories describe equipment changes people made, with their original sources. They are personal experiences, not evidence that changing a racket treats an injury.
For a specification comparison, explore racket comfort factors. If the problem is at the wrist rather than the elbow, start with our wrist-pain guide; do not assume an elbow sleeve is the relevant purchase.
Sources and selection method
We checked product identity in each Amazon store. Selected-size availability was checked only at the two Italian shops, alongside their partner product feeds. The lower Cisalfa PRO membership price is not presented as the standard price. We do not infer missing sizes, clinical benefit or overseas delivery from a product title.
