Player stories, part two

Padel tennis elbow: more players on what hurt and what helped

15 more players describe elbow pain in their own words: the racket they had, what they changed and what happened next. They wrote between 2018 and 2024. Each quote links to the original post, with our translation under it when the player did not write in English. Part one has other players' reports and the research on padel injuries.

In short

  • Five players link the start of their pain to a new racket that was harder, heavier or more head-heavy than the one before.
  • The changes they describe are round, soft or control rackets, lighter rackets, an undergrip or overgrips, and anti-vibration dampeners.
  • Four posts report improvement after a change. Most have no follow-up, and one player's "tennis elbow" turned out to be a trapped nerve.
  • These are individual posts, not a study. Pain that lasts needs a doctor or a physiotherapist.

This is players' experience, not medical advice. Our comfort rating describes published specs; it does not prevent injury.

How we built this page

Posts found on public padel forums and in one magazine reader survey, searched in several languages for elbow and wrist pain. Every quote was checked word for word on its page in a browser on 1 October 2026 and is shortened only by cutting. Some posts are several years old, and the rackets named are often older models that are not in our index. Players are not named. Last updated 2026-10-02.

Related: part one, Reddit reports and the research and the most comfortable rackets by published specs.

Can a new padel racket cause elbow pain?

Several players here link the start of their elbow pain to a change of racket, often to a harder, heavier or more head-heavy one. Others are unsure whether the racket, their grip or their technique is the cause. These are individual posts, not evidence that a racket causes or cures pain.

What did these players change to ease elbow pain?

They describe going back to round, soft or control rackets, choosing lighter rackets, adding an undergrip or overgrips, and trying anti-vibration dampeners. Four posts report improvement after a change; most have no follow-up.

Is all elbow pain in padel tennis elbow?

No. In one thread a player treated for epicondylitis for months was later found to have an ulnar nerve entrapment that needed surgery. Pain that lasts needs a doctor or a physiotherapist, not only a new racket.
